Recording Studio

The team of SGG builders decided they wanted to create a recording studio and did everything during the build. From researching to setting up the system and purchasing the equipment. They set out on a journey with the goal of building a community recording studio utilizing business skills and ideas learned from the SGG Curriculum.

Along the way they:

  • Enlisted the help of a 17 year old professional folk musician, Sammy Brue, out of Ogden Utah. He was featured in RollingStone as an upcoming folk act to watch out for.

  • Researched, purchased and developed a recording studio

  • pitched the idea to the school principal

  • held a recording session with various local artists

  • held a recording session with various student artists, including the winner of the talent show

  • recorded 6 original songs alongside Sammy Brue

  • Threw a charity concert in conjunction with Sammy Brue and 7Hills to raise money for The Dream Center

  • Took a trip to the famed recording studio Chicago Recording Company for a professional tour
